The Dons just couldn’t get it going in their first Channel League game of the season against Buena. Buena took the lead 0-1 on an error in the 3rd, then added three runs in the 4th to go ahead 0-4. Buena’s starting pitcher held the Dons scoreless until the final inning when Jason Jimenez reached on a HBP, Alec Churchill doubled, and Tyler Nichoson scored Jason on a sacrifice fly, to break up the shut-out.

The Dons JV team finished the Central Coast Classic with a 6-0 win over the San Luis Obispo Tigers. Tanner Guerra pitched a complete game shut-out, backed by a stingy Dons defense that made difficult plays look routine. Toby Minehan led the way with 6 defensive outs at 3rd base, and Johnny Brontsema had 5 at shortstop. The Dons offense hit the ball hard with RBI doubles from Alec Churchill, Tyler Nichoson, and Johnny Brontsema (2)
Defensive Play of the Day In the 3rd inning, with two outs and a runner on 2nd, SLO hit a fly ball into the left field gap. Miles Waters gunned the ball to Jason Jimenez who blocked the runner at the plate, preserving the shut-out.
Offensive Play of the Day In the 1st inning, they loaded the bases with back to back singles by Connor McMannigal and Toby Minehan and a walk by Jason Jimenez . Alec Churchill hit a long fly ball double deep into the left field gap to empty the bases and put the Dons ahead 3-0.

The Dons JV team started the season with a home win. Conner McMannigal started on the mound and pitched four strong innings, allowing just one base runner with no hits and strong defensive play by the Dons infield. The offense got on the board early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 1st when Toby Minehan singled, and Tanner Guerra walked. Toby scored on an error by the St Josephs 1st baseman, and Tanner came home on a single by Alec Churchill. Another run was added in the bottom of the 4th when a double by Zach Torres was followed by singles by Johnny Brontsema and Toby Minehan. Evan Smith came in to pitch the 5th and 6th, with Zach Torres closing it out in the 7th. The Dons pitchers combined for a one hit shutout.
